G’day guys, welcome to AussieMates Resources. Here you will find everything you need to know to get started in NFTs or elevate your NFT strategy to the next level. It goes without saying that none of what is written here is intended to be financial advice, ever.
We’ll be guiding you through how to set up your Metamask wallet. MetaMask is one of the standard wallets used to purchase NFTs and will also allow you to connect to your OpenSea.io account, allowing you to list, bid on and buy NFTs.
This guide is based on using a Google Chrome browser.
Some quick steps to get you going:
Search “MetaMask Wallet” in Google.
Click on “MetaMask is an extension” and you will be redirected to the Chrome store.
Click “Add to Chrome”.
From here click on “Get Started”.
If you’re new you’ll want to hit “Create Wallet”.
Now we get to the fun part.
When setting up a password you want to make sure it’s strong. Avoid using common words or your first dog's name followed by 123!. Make it a series of numbers, letters and characters and then store this in a physical and digital location so it’s safe.
You’ll then be directed to setting up a wallet, we do recommend watching the video if you have a spare couple minutes if you’re completely new so you can get a solid understanding of the MetaMask wallet.
Once you hit next, you’ll see “Secret Backup Phrase”. This phrase will be revealed when you click on the padlock. If you ever get locked out of your account this phrase will be what you use to regain access.
Write this phrase down on pieces of paper - that wasn't a typo, we mean multiple pieces of paper so that if for some reason you lose one, you’ve got a bunch of others at your disposal.
All done! You should now be able to see your wallet. From here, you can transfer Ethereum from your other wallets to buy NFTs.
If you haven’t purchased any Ethereum yet, you’ll need to set up an account with a company like Coinbase or if you’re Aussie, Coinspot or any other preferred that supports cryptocurrency wallets.
To transfer money from one wallet into another you’ll need your wallet address. You can copy this straight to your clipboard so that you don’t run the risk of getting any of the characters wrong.
Happy NFT purchasing!
